Serve on a Committee

One of the most meaningful ways to get involved with United Way of DeKalb County is by serving on a committee. Our committees are volunteer-led, collaborative teams that help guide fundraising efforts, community investments, outreach, and signature events.
Committee members bring diverse perspectives, experiences, and skills — and no prior United Way experience is required. If you have a heart for the community and a willingness to engage, there's a place for you at the table.

Development Committee
Help fuel United Way of DeKalb County's mission that fuels our community.
The Development Committee leads the planning and execution of United Way of DeKalb County’s annual fundraising campaign. Members help design campaign strategies, cultivate donor relationships, engage local businesses, and inspire community giving — ensuring we have the resources to support programs that strengthen families, youth, and neighborhoods across DeKalb County.
Great fit for individuals who enjoy relationship-building, community networking, teamwork, or strategic planning. No fundraising experience required, just passion and willingness to learn!
Meets: 2nd Wednesday of each month · July–February · 7:45 AM–8:30 AM
Finance Committee
Help ensure United Way of DeKalb County's mission remains strong, sustainable, and accountable.
The Finance Committee provides oversight and guidance for United Way of DeKalb County’s financial health. Members review financial reports, support the development and monitoring of the annual operating budget, and assist with the annual audit process — helping ensure donor dollars are stewarded responsibly and invested wisely in our community.
Ideal for volunteers with experience or interest in finance, accounting, business operations, nonprofit administration, or simply strong organizational and analytical skills.
Meets: 4th Thursday of even months · 7:00 AM–8:00 AM
Marketing Committee
Help shape the voice, story, and visibility of United Way of DeKalb County.
The Marketing Committee supports our annual campaign and year-round outreach by helping guide messaging, communications, and storytelling. Committee members collaborate on social media strategy, community awareness efforts, printed materials, and event promotion to ensure our mission is clearly and effectively shared throughout DeKalb County.
Great fit for creatives, communicators, storytellers, and anyone who enjoys helping people connect with a cause that matters.
Meets: 2nd Thursday of odd months · 10:00 AM–11:00 AM
Community Impact Committee
Help guide how United Way of DeKalb County invests in our community.
The Community Impact Committee plays a key leadership role in United Way of DeKalb County’s grantmaking process. Members review funding applications from local nonprofits, evaluate community needs, and make thoughtful recommendations to the Board of Directors — ensuring that donations are invested where they will make the greatest impact for DeKalb County residents.
Ideal for individuals who care deeply about local issues, enjoy thoughtful discussion, and want to help strengthen the nonprofit ecosystem in our community.
Meets: Semiannually on the 1st Tuesday of November and February · 9:00 AM–11:00 AM
Day of Caring Committee
Be part of something hands-on, heartfelt, and deeply meaningful.
The Day of Caring Committee leads one of United Way of DeKalb County’s most impactful annual traditions — a county-wide volunteer day focused on uplifting neighbors, nonprofits, and community spaces through service. Members help identify projects, coordinate volunteers, and create a day that truly reflects the heart of DeKalb County — people helping people.
Perfect for those who believe in showing love through action, building community connections, and making a visible difference right here at home.
Meets: 2nd Thursday of each month · January–July · 8:00 AM–9:00 AM
Power of the Purse Committee
Help shape one of the most inspiring events of the year!
The Power of the Purse Committee brings creativity, collaboration, and community spirit together to plan United Way of DeKalb County’s annual Power of the Purse event — a celebration of women, philanthropy, and collective impact. Committee members help secure event sponsors, gather beautifully themed purses and raffle items, and create a meaningful, memorable experience for guests.
No fundraising experience required — just enthusiasm, creativity, and a love for community!
Meets: 2nd Tuesday of each month · November–May · 8:00 AM–9:00 AM

Day of Caring is United Way of DeKalb County's annual day of service that brings individuals, businesses, and organizations together to complete meaningful projects across our county.
