DeKalb County — United Way of DeKalb County has announced that tickets for the 20th annual Power of the Purse are on sale.
This year’s milestone event, “POP Derby: Off to the Races | Celebrating 20 Years of Power – 65 Years of Impact,” will take place on Friday, April 24, at the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum. Doors open at 11:00 a.m., and the program begins at 11:30 a.m.
“Power of the Purse represents the strength of our community and the impact we can create together,” said Tyler Cleverly, Executive Director of United Way of DeKalb County. "As we celebrate 20 years of this event alongside United Way of DeKalb County’s 65th anniversary, we are proud to continue investing in programs that support children, families, and individuals across DeKalb County.”
Power of the Purse is United Way of DeKalb County’s signature fundraising event and one of the community's most anticipated annual gatherings. Over the past 20 years, the event has grown into a meaningful celebration of generosity, partnership, and local impact — bringing community members together to support programs that strengthen families, expand opportunities for youth, improve financial security, and build a more resilient DeKalb County.
In honor of United Way of DeKalb County’s 65th anniversary, proceeds from this year’s event will continue to advance the organization’s mission across its four impact areas: healthy community, youth opportunity, financial security and community resiliency. This year’s celebration will also expand to include additional tables and an even larger selection of purses for the popular “pack-a-purse” raffle, allowing the event to grow its impact and welcome new participants.
Guests will enjoy an inspiring program, a luncheon, and the return of the pack-a-purse raffle, featuring handbags filled with creative items donated by generous local partners. Every ticket purchased and raffle entry supports programs that create measurable, lasting change throughout DeKalb County.
Tickets may be purchased in person at the United Way of DeKalb County office, 950 W. 15th St., Auburn, or online at unitedwaydekalb.org/power-purse. Cash, check or credit card will be accepted.
United Way of DeKalb County is also seeking event sponsors and purse donations to help expand this year’s milestone celebration.
“Power of the Purse has become a meaningful tradition in DeKalb County over the past 20 years, and it continues to grow because of the generosity and leadership of our community. This year, we’re excited to expand the event with additional tables and more purses, allowing us to welcome new participants and increase our impact. As we celebrate this milestone alongside United Way of DeKalb County’s 65th anniversary, we are focused on building on that legacy and investing in the next generation,” said Kirby Cool, Community Impact Coordinator at United Way of DeKalb County.
