Kirby Cool returned to United Way of DeKalb County as Community Impact Coordinator on September 23, 2024. A graduate of Purdue University Fort Wayne, she holds a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services with a minor in Psychology and a Certificate in Fund Raising Management (CFRM) through The Fund Raising School at Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy. Kirby previously served United Way of DeKalb County from 2015–2018 in multiple capacities, including Resource Development Coordinator, Community Impact Coordinator, and Interim Executive Director.
With more than 11 years of nonprofit leadership and community engagement experience—six of those within the United Way network—Kirby brings a deep understanding of DeKalb County’s needs, a talent for collaborative problem-solving, and a strategic approach to grantmaking and program development. Her work centers on lifting up local families, opening doors for youth, and walking alongside the organizations that make DeKalb County stronger. She believes deeply that this work only matters because we do it together — and that United Is The Way.
Kirby is a lifelong Auburn resident and a proud advocate for the community she calls home. She is the mom of two children, Harleigh and Ledger, who keep life full of laughter, adventure, and purpose. Their home is shared with two dogs, Auggie and Sadie, and two cats, Leia and Cali. Kirby enjoys time with family, attending community events, and creating new memories with her kids.
