DeKalb County communities have declared Nov. 28 as #GivingTuesday. A global giving movement, it aims to transform how people think about and participate in the giving season. It inspires people to take collective action to improve their communities, give back in better, smarter ways to the charities and causes they believe in and help create a better world. Last year, more than $177 million was contributed on #GivingTuesday. Making the declaration, in front, are Garrett Mayor Todd Fiandt, Waterloo Town Manager Tena Woenker and Auburn Mayor Norman E. Yoder. Butler Mayor Ron Walter made a separate declaration in his office. Representing local charities, from left in back, are Marcia Provines of DeKalb Pregnancy Center, Marianne Stanley of Habitat for Humanity, Terri Hull of Catholic Charities, Kirby Cool of United Way of DeKalb County and Tammy Stafford of St. Martin’s Healthcare.
