2008 Committees and Descriptions
Campaign Committee
Chair: Daniel Green
This committee is responsible for the organization, preparation and conduct of the annual fund-raising campaign. They plan the campaign strategy, set the timetable and goal, develop a theme, oversee the campaign responsibilities and are responsible for raising maximum funds.
Community Focus Committee
Chair: Graeg Beber
Members provide leadership to the allocations process of the United Way. The committee and Executive Director will meet to thoroughly acquaint the members with each agency’s programs and services and to review its next year proposed operating budget as well as to discuss any issues which affect the agency’s service.
Day of Caring Committee
Co-Chairs: Mike Ley and Brent Mosley
This committee’s goal is to further demonstrate the mission of the United Way of Dekalb County by way of performing special projects of kindness for those citizens and/or social service organizations that have the need for such services. Members of this committee work to bring volunteers from all walks of life who want to demonstrate their caring spirit for their fellow citizens of DeKalb County. This committee also formally “Kicks Off” the United Way’s annual campaign.
Events Committee
Co-Chairs: Sarah Wellman and Burtie Rynearson
This committee’s responsibility is to organize, promote and conduct at least one fund-raising event per year in which proceeds benefit the United Way of Dekalb County, Inc.
Finance Oversight Committee
Chair: Chris Stark
This committee is responsible for the development and monitoring of the internal operating budget of the corporation, procuring services for an annual audit, and overseeing compliance with any recommendations from such an audit, and all matters incident there of.
Personnel/Nominating Committee
Chair: Julie Hook
The purpose of this committee is to recruit qualified members to the Board of Directors. Members of this committee also fill vacancies that may occur between annual meetings and make their recommendations to the Board of Directors. They also recruit qualified members to serve as officers of the organization and qualified staff to be responsible to the Board of Directors for the administration and management of the United Way.
