Basic Needs

The United Way of DeKalb County supports local programs that ensure people have enough food, shelter and clothing as they strive for a better life.

Your contribution has allowed us to provide funding to these United Way Partner Agency programs that provide basic needs for struggling families:

  • DeKalb County Council on Aging: DART Transportation Program provided over 26,633 one way trips to over 1,000 residents of DeKalb County in 2015. Specialized vehicles make traveling accessible for seniors, disabled and others of all ages.
  • Catholic Charities Community Center of Care Food Bank provided 19,865 individuals with food from the food pantry who represented  families. A total of 19,865 individuals were served during 2015. The RSVP volunteer program had over 425 active volunteers who contributed approximately 60,000 hours of service last year.
